What Are UC Personal Insight Questions?
The UC personal insight questions are the essay prompts used by all nine University of California campuses — UCLA, UC Berkeley, UC San Diego, UC Santa Barbara, UC Davis, UC Irvine, UC Riverside, UC Santa Cruz, and UC Merced. Unlike the Common App personal statement, the PIQs are unique to the UC system. Applicants choose four of eight prompts and write responses of up to 350 words each. Your four responses work together as a set — which means strategy and balance matter as much as writing quality.
